Election day

When is election day?
Saturday the 20th of September (this Saturday)

What hours can you vote on election day?
9am and 7pm

What date does this year’s election officially end?
It ends on the 4th of October.

Why is there a gap between election day and when the election ends?
So the votes can be counted.


Summarise each of these rules for election day in your own words.


Hoardings
You must take down all election signs by midnight of 19th of September


Sign-written vehicles
If you have a vehicle that has anything to do with the election then you cannot show it

Fixed signage on party headquarters and MP’s electorate offices
You are allowed to have a sign in your office, not specail signs though.

Delivery of election material prohibited
You can't recevie a letter from the candiates. On Saturday.

Websites and social media
You can't publish anything new on scoial media, but you are allowed to keep the things that you had on today.

Processions and demonstrations
You are not allowed to you a loud halor or be around the elcetion boths.

Streamers, rosettes, ribbons etc

You are allowed to wear one badge or rosett. You must not have the canidates name.

Clothing promoting the party or candidate
No tshirts, can wear party colours


Imitation ballot papers
You cannot give invitations that look like the voting card.

Assistance to get to a voting place
You can drive other people to the voting place if you are a candiate but you can't persuade them.

At the voting place
Cannidates can't go around looking at everybody but if you are a candiate you can vote for yourself.
